Arnab Chakraborty
Type designer, indic scripts
Arnab Chakraborty is a type and graphic designer from India. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture in Chandigarh and practised for several years before his love for letters drew him toward type design full-time. In 2025, he graduated from EsadType (École supérieure d'art et design d'Amiens) with a postgraduate diploma in typedesign and a master’s with distinction in graphic design, specialising in multiscript type with a focus on the Bengali script.
Arnab is currently based in Nancy, France, where he is a researcher at the Atelier national de recherche typographique (ANRT), working on the Missing Scripts project. He is deeply interested in the typographic history of South Asian scripts and the vernacular forms that shape them. Outside of type, he is drawn to the book as a physical object: its binding, paper, and texture, and is an avid cinephile who enjoys films in their original languages.
