Type with flavour: Rezak spices up a theatrical comedy poster

Comedy posters often end up looking a certain way: red, bubbly, and boisterous. But what about theatrical comedies? They can take on quite different tones. For the dizzying theatrical comedy “Kaviar trifft currywurscht” (“Caviar meets curry sausage”), Designer Mikhail Lychkovskiy wanted to represent the play’s complexity.

“I am constantly looking for new fonts to use in posters,” said Lychkovskiy, “so I recently talked with Anya Danilova about her Rezak family and decided to experiment with it. Rezak provides a beautiful, dense image, which can be typical for modular fonts, but Rezak is much more lively.” With its ability to be read from different orientations, the poster captures the essence of the play (held at Hefter-kultur Saal, Grassau, Germany) and Rezak becomes the art of the poster itself.
