Akupara Games picks Soleil for its award-winning adventure Mutazione

Mutazione is an adventure game by Californian studio Akupara Games, and one of the more distinctive titles to come out of the indie scene in recent years. The premise is quietly strange: over a century ago, a meteor called Moon Dragon struck a tropical holiday resort, killing most of its inhabitants. The survivors, transformed by the impact, founded an isolated community and built their own way of life among the ruins.

The game follows Kai, a 15-year-old who travels to Mutazione to care for her ailing grandfather, Nonno. What begins as a simple visit becomes an immersive, slow-paced narrative about family, community, and belonging — part graphic novel, part garden simulator, part mystery.

Throughout the game — menus, subtitles, credits and beyond — Akupara chose Soleil, the geometric sans-serif designed by Wolfgang Homola. Its clean, open forms provide a grounding contrast to the lush strangeness of Mutazione's world, giving the interface a quiet legibility that never competes with the visual storytelling around it.
