‘World's Best-Design Newspaper’ in 2012 and 2013 Politiken employes Gerard Unger’s newspaper typeface Capitolium 2 as a fundamental piece in its design.
Redesign
In December 2011, Art Director Søren Nyeland launched a redesign of Politiken, Denmark’s second-largest morning newspaper —as well as the international version, Politiken Weekly. In the new design Dr Gerard Unger’s Capitolium 2 font is used widespread in the newspaper, both for display as for text size. According to the website Smashing Magazine, the ‘sharpness of typography is breathtaking’.
