Bely from posters to maps across Barcelona’s BCNegra festival

Susana Blasco is a designer, illustrator, and collage artist from Zaragoza, Spain. Her designs combine personal stories by means of  contemporary design and photographic collages that are cut and made by hand. She was responsible for the corporate identity of the 15th edition of BCNegra, a literary festival held annually in Barcelona. The identity combines the handmade touch of collages with the fearless typeface Bely, that reverberates in the display sizes and is a workhorse in the text applications. Roxane Gataud’s Bely Display and Bely Text have been used across a vast range of applications: posters, billboard, magazines, staff cards, video, even a map!

In this edition, the crime fiction book festival’s topic was the “hidden city” (la ciudad escondida), and included roundtables, talks, meetings with authors, exhibitions, reading clubs, book launches, both in large venues and in local libraries and bookshops. Over 50 authors and specialists in detective stories from all over Europe have taken part in the array of activities.
