Sabancı students launch ArtNiyet with Abril and Tablet Gothic

ArtNiyet is the first annual publication created by the students of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design program at Sabanci; University (Turkey). The team of students, supervised by faculty members Onur Yazıcıgil and Stephanie Paine, met weekly to develop and discuss its content and layout. The first issue focuses on art and design, including interviews with type designer Jonathan Barnbrook and artist Gülsün Karamustafa.
Abril & Tablet Gothic
This refreshing approach to editorial design is using of Abril Text, as main text typeface, and Abril Display and Tablet Gothic, as headline faces for impact. Abril and Tablet Gothic were chosen because “they complemented each other”, and the students were looking for "a robust grotesque sans-serif with some friendly terminals”.
