The book ‘Wie Unternehmen und Behörden barrierefrei kommunizieren können,’ by Sabina Sieghart, published by Prokon Verlag Munich in 2022 and supported by the typographischen Gesellschaft München (tgm), the Bezirk Oberbayern and the Kulturstiftung Oberbayern, makes very effective use of Adelle .
In the book, Sieghart, a graphic designer & PhD candidate together with Linguist Bettina M. Bock present the results of their research project into plain-language communication (Leichte Sprache), and provide a checklist for designers, marketers, and clients to assess the quality of their communication in terms of accessibility.
The book raises some fascinating questions about the role of design in accessibility: What role do typography and programming play? What does practical implementation of barrier-free communication look like, and how should companies expand their corporate design in order to communicate accessibly?
