Archibrazo: where calligraphy meets sculpture

We’re thrilled to announce our first type release of 2026: Archibrazo, by the Buenos Aires-based master type designer Rubén Fontana. His effortlessly readable Archibrazo serif type family comes in seven weights, and it delivers rich texture and typographic colour in paragraphs and striking impact in titles.

Through its seven weights, Archibrazo reveals its character, gracefully shifting from thoughtful restraint to sculptural presence. In its lighter weights, it’s a masterclass in rhythm and spatial balance, weaving texture and tone to sustain long-form reading without fatigue. As the weight builds, the forms thicken but never overreach; compression becomes a design virtue, letting text feel full yet impeccably composed. Then comes Archibrazo Rotunda, where Fontana transforms geometry into sculpture—the interiors of each letter feel carved by light, not ink. Compact and confident, the Extrabold and Rotunda styles channel that same precision into branding and signage, where impact and sophistication share the same line.

Rubén Fontana is an Argentine graphic designer, typographer, and educator, and has led his successful FontanaDiseño studio for over 40 years. Archibrazo is the second type family designed by Fontana released by TypeTogether; the first was Chaco in 2024. “When it comes to design and typography in the Spanish-speaking world and beyond, Rubén Fontana is an icon,” explains TypeTogether co-founder José Scaglione. Fontana has taught generations of typographers and graphic designers at the University of Buenos Aires, and founded and directed the long-running and respected magazine tipoGráfica.
